    Ok, you're a thief, a river pirate and an all around good for nothing, but hey a guy's got to make a living right. If it wasn't for that darn rock the sheriff and his men would never have caught you and dumped you in this hole called Devil's Cove prison under an island in the northern wastes.

    Worse, when they stuck you away up here they took all your hard earned swag.

    Hey, it's not like you're evil or anything. Just a guy trying to make a buck and you've been stuck here for five long years. Still it hasn't been a total loss. Your cell mate, the old man Malagor, taught you quite a bit. You were always a good fighter, but never knew you had a knack for magic.

    Man, talk about being railroaded. You are a thief, and sort of belong here, but the old man just got on the wrong side of some nobleman in the Three Kingdoms and got stuck up here for 30 years. He was probably the best friend you ever had and now he's gone.

    That last seizure was too much for him and now you're alone. All you have is this letter, My dear Valain, you are the only son I ever had and are my heir. I know my time is near, but I see a great future for you my son. Grave times are coming and I trust you will use what I have taught you wisely.

    Hidden under a loose stone beneath my bed you will find my ring. But this is not my only legacy. When I was a younger man I researched many secrets of the world. The most exciting of my discoveries was the secret of the keys. In four caverns beneath the Bitter Sea islands are four keys.

    With these keys is treasure beyond your wildest dreams. My refusal to reveal this secret is why I ended up a prisoner here. By the time I learned how to gain my freedom I was too old and sick to leave. Oh yes my son, I have the means to escape.

    With my ring you will find a spell scroll which will open the cell door. Free yourself and go forth and claim the treasure of the keys. This is my legacy to you my son. I trust that the nobility I see in you will help you travel the right road in the grave times that I feel in my soul are ahead.

    Loose stone, ring, scroll, keys, treasure, what an imagination. I guess the old man was a little touched in the head after all. Oh well, I haven't got anything better to do so maybe I'll check under the bed. Hey, there is a loose stone here. If I can just pry it up...

    Well I'll be a horn swaggled chicken. Here's the ring and a scroll. You don't think, nah couldn't be. Let's see Nazgut, Ramdor, Takery, Zem! The door's gone, I can get out of here. Even if the old man was nuts, things are lookin' up for mama's baby boy.
