    It's said the ancient Tarlaskians hid an immensely powerful artifact somewhere below the earth: the Grail. But now someone suggested that the runes carved in several obelisks, scattered around, may lead to it.
  • Lyrine
    There was once this sorceress, Lyrine, who challenged Worghol. She rode dragons, but one day discovered a secret spell which allowed her to fly by her own. But her corpse was taken to her homeland, with her secret.

    We are doomed! We all know that Queen Treshala of Snake's Lair bows to Worghol, but now people are saying that Ramadul, the necromancer, has made an alliance with him, too. We have no hope.

    Worghol may be after the Grail. But it's said it can't be used for Evil. Thus, it'll be of no use in Harnakzar... or Snake's Lair... and other places.
  • Spellbinder's hat
    Legend tells of a mighty Tarlaskian wizard, known as The Spellbinder, who disappeared in the World of Fear. Seers have said his hat is still somewhere out there. And it bears unimaginable power!

  • Intro 1 - The Mark of the Serpent
    You have just fought your way out of Snake's Lair, taking some other prisoners along. You stop briefly to look at the black mark burned on your chest with the heat of the Dark Flame. It released a terrible power, which tried to control your mind. But your spirit was strong...
  • Intro 2 - Fight
    Great mystical forces emerged as you painfully struggled to keep your will, and you freed yourself from the shackles in a burst of rage. You won, but even now, as you stand in the middle of the forest and look back at the trail of blood and corpses, the shadow of the serpent still darkens your soul.
  • Intro 3 - Hunted
    However, there is no time to rest, for Queen Treshala is after you. Having failed to turn you into a servant of Evil, she is now eager to hand in your head to Worghol, Master of Chaos, who rules a vast empire from Harnakzar, the Bloody Fortress, located in the Southern Sands.
  • Zatorius introduces himself
    You dream of an old man who speaks to you: Ralkor, I am Zatorius, master wizard of Kaeb'Rah, the Palace of Light. Go to the north, to the Lands of Ice. The Sword of Judgement awaits you in the palace, among the mountains. Its precise location is a secrecy, but I have ways to guide you.
  • Gargoyle's eye
    You are awakened in the morning by the sound of wings. A gargoyle lands just to give you a gem and goes away. You look into the gem and see through the eyes of another gargoyle, on a parapet in the snow. You can see a part of a palace behind mountains... Might the dream has been more than a dream?
  • Zatorius' quest
    The night falls and you dream again of Zatorius, who says: I would like to welcome you at Kaeb'Rah, Ralkor, but a seer had a vision of the sorceress Lyrine, who has once fought Worghol and had her body imprisoned in a magical crystal. Her soul seems to be trapped in another plane. I must help her.
  • Magi arrive from Tarlask
    Magi arrive at sunset, coming from the lost ruins of Tarlask, not far to the south. Zatorius had entered the city with golems and gargoyles, while the magi fought to hold the golden guardians. He said no living creature should follow him, for where he was going to, death is an eternal prison.
  • Dark Flame
    You stand alone before the Dark Flame, the source of Evil which feeds Snake's Lair. An infernal heat seems to burn your heart, while a hundred creatures of fire dance around you. Suddenly, you wake up from this nightmare, feeling it was some kind of warning. You stay awake for the rest of the night.
  • Goblin invasion
    Just before sunrise, you are awakened by the heavy steps of a cyclops. He is very wounded and hurries to tell that his hometown, Dagamora, fell to a huge invasion of goblins, who opened a tunnel into the Barbarian Lands. Some traitors, mostly orcs, aided them in their conquest.
  • Cyclops dies
    He fears for the fate of his king, Vultak, who is being kept as a prisoner. Also, Vultak's powerful shield is now in the hands of Gor, the goblin king, making him even more dangerous. You do what you can to save the cyclops' life, but it is too late for him. You grant him a decent burial and leave.
  • Spirit of the Fire appears
    From the dying embers of the fire that warmed your night, a flame suddenly bursts and assumes an almost human shape. A hardly distinguished face forms and you recognize an ancient being you thought to be just a legend: the Spirit of the Fire. He talks to you, before vanishing...
  • Spirit of the Fire talks
    Great magic rests on foul hands... Facing his power no one stands, For he is pain, suffering and sorrow. But Light shines in the near tomorrow: Beyond the end of the great river, Beneath the wide mirror of silver, In a hidden place, a lost relic lies. Before its hunger, all magic dies.
  • Giants 1
    Important news arrives this morning: Giants have been spotted to the northeast of Kaeb'Rah, marching toward the city. They must arrive in four days. Although they look like the ones who live in the west, they are from a different group and their intentions are unknown.
  • Giants 2
    Said to be the degenerated descendants of the great titans who have once roamed the world, they are still mighty enough to change the course of this war, shall they decide to join either side. You must be prepared to welcome them to the Palace of Light.
  • Dreaming of titans
    During the night, your spirit flies through time and space, over dark mountains, in a strange world. You eventually land on the top of a hill, where a dozen titans greet you and offer to join your cause. When you wake up, the dream still feels real. Is it related to your past... or your future?
  • Varneld, the seer
    The old seer Varneld arrives to your camp this morning. I had a most terrifying vision., he tells. Armies of undead devastating the lands, spreading like a plague, taking cities... But this is not the work of Ramadul, the necromancer. They will come from a magical gate, a monolith.
  • Where?
    You have many questions, but the most important are when and where. Where?..., Varneld repeats, That's an easy one. North of Nyardawk, there is a place where strong magic has blended our world with the infernal World of Darkness. The gate is already open.
  • When?
    When?..., the seer continues. That was not revealed to me. But if you allow me to stay with your troops, I will try to focus my powers and find out more. You don't want to risk his life, but he feels safer under your protection than hiding alone. Reluctantly, you agree.
  • About the lord of darkness

  • To stop the invasion

    Varneld rushes into your quarters without any announcement. He speaks excitedly, hardly breathing: I know... I know when they will come! I saw the waves of death again... I looked up to the skies. There was a full moon. I'm sure they will come with the full moon! That gives you almost a month.
  • Varneld's death
    You had almost forgotten the old Varneld when you receive notice of his sudden and mysterious illness. You attend to his call and listen to his last words: He caught my soul spying on him... Now he wants it... Take on his hometown Ingabrod... to free me... and the others. You close his eyes.

    You wake in the middle of the night with no apparent reason and go out for a walk. You hear a storm approaching. Occasionally, the wind pushes clouds aside to reveal the bright moon... A full moon! The howling of wolves chills your blood as you remember Varneld's visions. The invasion is coming...
