Everyone is familiar with the argument about whether a titan could defeat a black dragon in one-on-one combat. When the Archery Guild does battle with the Flight Guild, this and many other questions are answered. Who will be victorious? Rangestrikers or flyers?

    There are many guilds in the land, but the two most prominent are the Flight Guild and the Archery Guild. These two guilds are extremely competitive. Some towns strongly support one guild or the other. In these towns, one can expect to find dwellings only for flyers or only for rangestrikers. Some towns refuse to support either guild, and some towns in more remote areas are barely even aware of the two guilds. However, this is soon destined to change. It began one day when a young mage named Deio was out walking with his friend Thace, a minotaur. Deio had recently joined the Archery Guild, which was strongly supported in his hometown of Icewall. He was bragging about the titans of Icewall, and how they could defeat just about any other creature. Suddenly, Thace pushed Deio to the ground and said, I've heard enough about those puny titans. A black dragon from my home town of West Gulch could destroy a titan singlehandedly, any day of the week. I'm so proud of the black dragons of West Gulch that I've decided to join the Flight Guild. Flight Guild? Minotaurs can't fly. That doesn't matter. Flyers are clearly superior to rangestrikers. Why, one azure dragon could defeat fifty enchanters. Don't be ridiculous. Deio got up off the ground and brushed himself off. Ridiculous? I'll show you ridiculous. Thace pushed Deio back to the ground. At this point, Deio had had enough, so he zapped Thace with a bolt of lightning and sent him crying back to West Gulch. At this point, neither of them could guess that their petty argument would lead to war.
  • Red intro, day 1
    Thace returned to West Gulch and told the Flight Guild of his argument with his young friend. Although he was a new member of the Guild, they vowed to support him fully. The leader of the Flight Guild, a kindly black dragon named Meth, took Thace aside. My boy, this may not be a dilemma so much as an opportunity. All the guilds will recognize that we must retaliate against Deio's impertinence and make a show of power. We will bring dragons to Icewall and destroy it. In fact, we may be able to use this retaliation as an excuse to conquer all the towns in the land. The Flight Guild will rule absolutely. He laughed jollily and ate a tasty elf-snack. We'll show those titans who's boss! Maybe, said Thace, you'll even teach me how to fly! I wouldn't push it, my little hoofed friend. Right. Well, what should I do first? First, check the neighboring towns for support. Most of the towns in the area have Flight Guilds that can sell you some troops. Then go north and east where most of the established Archery Guilds are and tear them apart! What about money and resources? Well, you'll need both, obviously, but I warn you right now, there aren't many resources in the immediate area, just a little ore and wood. If you want to become wealthy in this enterprise, you may have to travel farther, and in all directions. Be careful, though. While you're out gathering resources, that Archery Guild could attack us at any moment! Thanks, Master Meth. I'm going to start battling right away! That's the spirit. Would you like an elf-snack? Oh, thanks, but I just ate a bunch of master gremlins for breakfast.
  • Blue intro, Day 1
    Deio, frustrated and angry with his so-called friend, returned to the main hall of the Archery Guild at Icewall. He sought out the leader of the Archery Guild, a kindly titan named Morran, and told Morran about the betrayal he felt. It's difficult when a friend chooses to move his life in a different direction from yours, my child. There's only one thing you can do to help ease the pain. What's that, Master Morran? Obviously you're going to have to kill him and his entire Guild. Isn't that a little extreme? Not at all, laughed the titan, popping a delicious pegasus into his mouth. In fact, I think we can use this little argument of yours to finally take firm control over all the towns in the land. Deio just nodded, not really understanding. First, assemble an army of rangestrikers from the Archery Guilds in the nearby towns. There are some good Archery Guilds to the southwest, and a couple more across the river to the east. Then, go march on the towns loyal to the Flight Guild and conquer them. What could be simpler? Won't I need some resources to hire this army? Hmm, there is that. The area nearby is rather scarce in resources. You may have to travel far to find some. If you choose that route, be sure to remain vigilant so that the Flying Guild doesn't invade while you're gone. Most of the towns loyal to the Flying Guild lie far to the south and west, over the Bridge, so when you're ready, head that way. And remember, it's always advantageous to pay attention to your surroundings. Yes, sir, Master Morran. Would you like a pegasus snack before you go? Um, no thanks, I'm a vegetarian. I have some minced dendroid in the back. You're very generous.
  • Red, Day 2
    Meth the Black Dragon sends a message to Thace: My good young sir, I know you seem displeased with the current state of construction in West Gulch. The Flight Guild is dedicated to improving dwellings for all flying creatures, but it may take us some time to complete the upgrades. It may take a week or two before we can recruit more black dragons in West Gulch. Thace writes back: Let me know when I can recruit flying minotaurs.
  • Blue, Day 2
    Morran the Titan sends a message to Deio: Young mage, I know you seem displeased with the current state of construction in Icewall. The Archery Guild is dedicated to improving dwellings for all rangestriking creatures, but it may take us some time to complete the upgrades. It may take a week or two before we can recruit more titans in Icewall. Deio writes back: I thank you for your assistance in builiding the upgrades, Master Morran. I also thank you for the delicious stewed dendroid.
  • Red, Day 4
    Thace receives a message from Meth the Black Dragon. The defense of West Gulch is more or less secure. I have called in my six brothers from overseas, and we are guarding the front gate personally. You won't see us there, because we'll be waiting in ambush for any rangestrikers that might try to attack, but we'll be there.
  • Blue, Day 4
    Deio receives a message from Morran the Titan. The defense of Icewall is more or less secure. I have called in my six brothers from overseas, and we are guarding the front gate personally. You won't see us there, because we'll be waiting in ambush for any flyers that might try to attack, but we'll be there.
  • Red, upgrade general
    Now that West Gulch's Flight Guild is fully developed, the construction crews are sent to other towns with active Flight Guilds in the area, namely Forest Tower, Southram, Pleasant Swamp, and Spookwood. Perhaps their dwellings can also be upgraded, but only if they are under your firm control.
  • Blue, upgrade general
    Now that Icewall's Archery Guild is fully developed, the construction crews are sent to other towns in the area with active Archery Guilds, namely Icestorm, Faith's Arrow, Stone Eye, and Gray Rock. Perhaps their dwellings can also be upgraded, but only if they are under your firm control. As it turns out, Icestorm's Archery Guild dwellings are already upgraded, which will save some time and resources.
